Nous sommes bien arrivés a Athènes et avons commencé de suite à nous promener dans la ville, histoire de bien fatiguer nos troupes: objectif atteint: ils sont tous couchés et parfaitement calmes...

La journée de demain sera consacrée à la visite d Athènes, et nous partirons dans l après-midi pour le nord.

Wij zijn goed aangekomen en onmiddelijk zijn we gaan wandelen in de sraten van Athene .We hebben ze lekker goed vermoeid en ze liggen nu heeeeeeel rustig in hun kamer.Morgenochtend bezoeken we Acropolis om dan in de vroege namiddag naar het noorden te reizen.

Morgen weer meer nieuws.

 18 Mars :

The very first day of our Latin trip started off with a waking call of our too enthusiastic teachers.
After what became a legendary breakfast, the teachers gathered each of the different groups and we all headed straight for the Acropolis.
Followed by our faithful companions the athenian street dogs, we eventually made it to our destination. The teachers, Mr Durand, Mr de Rijcke, Mr Marcou, Mrs Wyckaert and Mrs Barassi kept the group from separating and explained the necessary details in order to fill in the blanks in our precious booklet.
The first expressions of the students when they saw the famous Parthenon were priceless and soon everyone  began to take pictures. 
Mr Durand's speed of walking still hasn't changed which lead to most of the pupils barely being able to keep up. Fortunately, Mrs Barassi was, and still is, there to help poor slow students. We are all very very grateful. The next temple we saw was the temple of Erechteion, which, funnily enough, is actually a temple dedicated to two gods at the same time, Athena and Poseidon. This, as can be expected, lead to some confusion in the french as well as the dutch group, because the columns did not correspond to the worshipped gods.
 Next, we returned to the Parthenon, but this time to the other side, which allowed us, not only to fill in another blank, but also to take a good look at the theatre of Dionysos and the Olympeion. After we heard that the museum of the Acropolis was closed, disapointement spread on the faces of all students and teachers.
This resulted in an early lunch. Surprise! bearing in mind the past half an hour of " meneeeeer, waneer eten we?" and " meneeer, Ik heb echt  honger.", this specific piece of information was particularly welcome in the group.  Seeing as we are in Greece, the teachers decided to give us a real greek lunch; Pita. We all very much enjoyed our pita, some students even bought a second one! The first silence since the wake up call was achieved when everyone was eating their pita, and then our teachers kindly suggested, with a hand full of strawberries, that the strawberries were amazingly delicious. As all good students, the whole third year bought strawberries, and , I can confirm this personally, they were right!
While most of us were still enjoying the taste of the strawberries on our lips, literally, we made our way to the National Museum of Archeology, where we , I quote "Saw the usual old stuff". This , as you ,dear reader, know, does not really need further details.
After this intellectual journey to the past, we were released and received a five-hour bus ride. Hooray!
Consequently, this trip was rather quiet and we arrived at Leptokaria, which is in the , I quote " middle of nowhere" somewhere in the north of Greece.

Kalimera! Hier in Griekenland is het helemaal leuk! We hebben het ontzettend gezellig en hebben ongelooflijke interessante dingen gezien.
De eerste dag waren we in Athene. Eerst schrokken we een beetje van het gebrek aan hygiene in de naburige straatjes, maar waren er snel aan gewend.
Toen we eenmaal de stad in waren gegaan was het heel leuk. De cultuur is helemaal anders maar de gezelligheid op straat is niet te missen.
We zijn een stukje door Athene gelopen en hebben uiteindelijk het mooiste uitzicht en een prachtige zonsondergang gezien, op de heuvel der muzen.
De volgende dag zijn we naar de Acropolis gegaan waar we een variatie van mooie tempels hebben gezien (Het Parthenon, het Erechtheron, etc.). Ondanks dat we het mythologische verhaal van Poseidon en zijn bliksem inslag niet geloofden bleef het fascinerend.
Daarna zijn wij gaan lunchen, en hebben wij een typische Griekse maaltijd gegeten: pita met tzatziki( looksaus):)
Die namiddag waren wij ook nog naar een Archeologish museum geweest waar wij eerst de weg niet konden vinden, maar uiteindelijk hebben wij spectaculaire standbeelden, kleine beeldjes en veel meer gezien. Daarna een busreis van 5 uur en we kwamen aan in onze volgende bestemming: Leptokaria. Daar zullen wij de volgende 2 nachten nog blijven en veel beleven. Wij zijn vandaag opgestaan om 7:30 en hebben ontbeten om 8uur = Toen zijn wij met de bus naar Vergina gegaan. Dat is het graf van =hillipus ii (de vader van Alexander de Grote). Er waren daar =llemaal schatten en je zag de graf tombe. Daarna  gingen we =aar het restaurant om te eten, maar de buschauffeur die =ypisch grieks is wist de weg niet goed. Uiteidelijk zijn we daar =och gekomen. Het restaurant zag er slecht uit van buiten, maar het =ten was goed. Toen zijn we naar Pella gegaan, de geboorteplaats van =lexander de Grote. We zagen er =ele mooie mozaieken. In de namiddag gingen we naar =hessalonikki (`de witte stad`). De busschauffeur zette ons af bij de =itte toren. Van  daaruit maakten we een tocht door de stad. De =otonda was gesloten dus kregen we 20 minuten vrij en gingen we een =repe eten. Toen zijn we naar een kerk (de agia =ofia) geweest. en ten slotte zijn we terug naar de bus =egaan om te gaan eten in het hotel. morgen gaan we naar de =eteoren.

This is Athens calling...
 
That is correct, we are back in Athens and exhausted but smarter than before.
Today's schedule was as busy as the previous days. Our teachers, still as enthusiastic as the first day, informed us that we would be visiting Epidaurus and Mycenae. Epidaurus is known especially for its impressive and intact greek theatre. The theatre itself is situated on a hill with a beautiful view and the resonance it incredible.  After having received all the necessary information to fill in the blanks in our beloved booklet, we went to see the rest of the site. Except for the theatre, Epidaurus is nothing else but ruins. As most of the students were already complaining that they were hungry, we stopped at the same restaurant " King Menelaos" as three years ago. The food was delicious and we soon continued , as motivated as before, to another important city of Ancient Greece ; Mycenae.
Mycenae is a well defended city where the famous golden masks of Agamemnon were found. We dwelled at Mycenae for an hour and took many pictures of the remarkable scenery.
Next, we gladly went to the bus and enjoyed a 1.30 hours bus ride. Arriving at around 5 in Athens, we were given some time free to buy souvenirs and eventually we returned to our hotel "Marina", having enjoyed our last day in Greece. Unfortunately though, on the last day, it was raining the entire day. Time to return to Belgium...
 
Tomorrow's program is rather calm and we are going to the museum of the Agora.
 We have all sincerely enjoyed the Latin trip and we are, of course, very grateful for all the time and effort the teachers put into this unforgettable trip.
